Lorna Cheatham is the owner and founder of Clera’s Creative Gifts, a gifting brand that features African-American themed wrapping paper and gift bags.

Established in 2018, with the goal of bringing jobs back to the city of Detroit for abused women of color and women released from incarceration, the idea for this company came out of a desire to see a more melanated representation on shelves and in gift shops. Cheatham began focusing her efforts on designing gift wrapping paper and gift bags that offer African-American representations of life events and special moments.

Cheatham is a native of Nashville, Tennessee and was inspired to create the creative brand from her childhood celebrations, in which she was one of twelve children. “Although we didn’t receive a lot, we cherished what we got,” said Cheatham.
