“Smoke in the Outfield” is North Alabama’s newest barbecue festival, taking place at Toyota Field on August 4-5! This two-day extravaganza offers a wide range of activities and entertainment for all ages. On the opening night, Friday, August 4th, the festivities kick off at 5 pm with live music by the Lamont Landers Band, delicious food and drinks for purchase, and the thrilling experience of mechanical bull rides.
The main event, the Cook Off, takes place on Saturday, August 5th, from 10 am to 4 pm. Over 70 competing teams will showcase their BBQ skills in a two-part cook-off, sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society. Judged on their best Chicken and Ribs, these teams will also vie for the People’s Choice Awards, with guests having the opportunity to sample and vote for their favorite submissions. The ultimate reward for the top competitor is a Grand Prize of $1,500.
Tickets are reasonably priced, with Adult 2-Day Passes at $15, Kids 12 & Under 2-Day Passes at $12, and free entry for children 2 & under. For those looking for an enhanced experience, the Saturday Sampling Ticket, priced at $40, offers access to the People’s Choice BBQ Competition and includes a drink ticket for beer or fountain soda. VIP tickets, priced at $45, grant access to both the Sampling Ticket and the Friday Opening Night Party.
