Nestled in nature within South Huntsville lies the picturesque new master-planned community of Hays Farm, where a century-old legacy of family intertwines with a vision for modern living. With over 850 acres of lush forests and fields, meandering trails, and glistening ponds, Hays Farm is a unique fusion of natural serenity and urban accessibility.Â
While Hays Farm is one of Huntsville’s most unique master-planned communities, what further sets it apart from other communities in the region is its exclusive homebuilder: Hays Farm Homes.
Passionate Foundations
For generations, the Hays family has been an integral part of Huntsville, generously contributing their land and resources to improve the community. Their latest venture, Hays Farm, is a testament to their enduring commitment. Built on land steeped in family history, this master-planned community is a tribute to their cherished memories and a promising future.
When the Hays family began to bring their vision to fruition, Goodall Homes joined as the community’s builder. However, a change in Goodall’s parent company’s strategy led to their departure from the southeast region. Undeterred, the Hays family embraced this challenge and saw it as an opportunity to create something exceptional—their own homebuilding company. And so, Hays Farm Homes was born.Â
The final puzzle piece was finding the right leader for this new journey. That answer was none other than the individual who had overseen the construction of Hays Farm with Goodall Homes, Lance Gilmet.
Beyond Bricks and Mortar
Gilmet’s story is one of humble beginnings and a passion for homebuilding that runs deep. Growing up in Louisville, KY, he was immersed in the industry from an early age, with his father working as a bricklayer. His love for math and science led him to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, where he quickly realized his calling was not in a lab. Gilmet delved into manufacturing, honing his skills for over a decade. A twist of fate led him to a friend in the homebuilding industry, who recognized his talent and offered him a job. Here, Gilmet’s passion for the industry ignited as he immersed himself in various facets of the homebuilding process.
His journey took him through different roles and companies, ultimately bringing him to Goodall Homes, where he led their Huntsville division. Although presented with an opportunity in Knoxville after Goodall Homes departed the region, Gilmet’s heart remained rooted in Northern Alabama and the vision of Hays Farm. Fueled by his dedication to the area, the chance to lead Hays Farm Homes was an easy decision, marking the continuation of his commitment to the community’s future.
“This is my 17th year in the industry, and you just don’t come across communities like Hays Farm,” said Gilmet. “I drive the land at least once a week to remind myself of the future we have in front of us here.”
Building Your Dream Home
You may be wondering how Hays Farm Homes is different. According to Gilmet, it comes down to experience and customization.Â
“Hays Farm Homes is exclusively building in Hays Farm, which means we can give homebuyers more personalized attention,” said Gilmet. “We work intimately with homebuyers in a very integrated process to fashion their homes from start to finish. I am certain we provide more customization options than any other production homebuilder in the area.”Â
