Did you know Huntsville is creating its very own topsy-turvy fairytale forest? That’s right! Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy (FPCTA), is teaming up with local community artists to reimagine all of your old favorite stories and create new ones to inspire the kids and families of today. Celebrating the 63rd Season with a theme of Brave Stories, Brave Spaces, you won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind “Fantasy magic” that is gaining national recognition!
Focusing on values of kindness, teamwork, and friendship- last February, FPCTA introduced the untold story of Snow White and the 7 Littles who live in the fairytale world of Nysland. Not waiting for her prince, Snow White along with her friends set out on a journey as city planners determined to get water flowing to all of the people of Nysland. Audiences of all ages were delighted to see their new fairytale queen save the day. But this season, there is a new problem in Nysland and only one person can help- Rapunzel. Rapunzel is the only plant scientist in Nysland to never touch the real earth and she’s sick of being stuck in that tower! When her friend Willy Nilly Wallywart, the worst witch in town, mistakenly whips up her famous bean dip using the last of the magic beans, Rapunzel’s famous ponytail grows to new heights in the form of an enormous beanstalk. Jack, now the biggest social influencer in Nysland must face that beanstalk once again. Who climbs up? What falls down? And why are all of the plants wilting more and more by the day?

Presentations will be unstaged readings of selected plays using actors from partner organizations and FPCTA’s own Lab 87 students.
Submissions will be accepted through March 1st. 2024 and reviewed by a diverse panel of distinguished playwrights. Selected plays will be announced by March 15th. Selected playwrights may cast their own readers in their presentations or FPCTA can help to provide actors if needed.
